Seit dem Mittelalter standen Vorgängerbauten an der Stelle der heutigen evangelischen Kirche im Stadtteil Gonzenheim. 1845 ersetzte die Gemeinde den baufällig gewordenen Turm durch einen neuen und zwar so, dass Bad Homburgs großer Baumeister Louis Jacobi 1876 an den Turm ein neues Kirchenschiff anbauen konnte. In den 1930er Jahren wurde das Innere der Kirche dem Geschmack der Zeit angepasst. Doch bei einer Renovierung fast 50 Jahre später, wurden einige Veränderungen wieder rückgängig gemacht. Die heutige Innenausmalung der Kirche geht auf einen Ausbau im Jahre 2001 zurück. Zur Wiedereinweihung der Kirche im selben Jahr erhielt die Gemeinde ein von der Künstlerin Christiane von Kessel geschaffenes modernes Altarkreuz.
